OPEN LETTER TO NIGERIAN YOUTHS

By: Ademuyiwa Kehinde

It is a known fact that the present situation of the country has now become so bugaboo; it is there for all to see. Our government has turned kakistocracy overnight; the political class sole aim in government is to buy the world for themselves and their family, leaving the sons and daughters of the commoners with any hope of a sound tomorrow.

Even though our government has failed us, should we then also fail ourselves? Should we also fail our future and or should we also fail the unborn generations? It must not happen; else our fate is sealed in doom. God forbid though!

If MT Mbu could become Nigerian foreign affairs minister at 23, Pat Utomi, a federal adviser at 27, not forgetting others in history, why is it so difficult for us now despite the advancement?

The main problem is that we are ill-prepared and have overtime shown no serious concern towards what the nation is going through. In other words, we are dead in slumber, with heavy and rising snores.

You are as person reading this, haven’t you ever felt cheated? Are you satisfied with your present condition, are you at where you suppose to be? That job of yours is that your dream job? Have you ever reasoned if their children schooled in this country? The reason is obvious. They do not believe in the education sector of the country they oversee, same as medical, industry among others.

To further explain the extent at which our government and politicians have destroyed the lives of many youths emanating from their bad leadership in this country kindly, visit the different lotto or game houses around, then, you’ll be so sorry for the future of this country. Many of our youths have now taken their fate to unworthy, shameful and perilous activities, becoming professional in virtual games, betting of sorts in internet fraud, ponzi schemes, among others, just to mention but a few for survival. So pathetic!

As unfortunate as our condition as a nation may appear, my dear contemporaries, our parents seemingly have taken their own destiny and then looking up on us to fight for our freedom; it will be disastrous to make the same mistake they made during their own time.

Therefore, if we are to have such good government we deserve, then there is an urgent need for the youths to come into action before it is too late, having being denied our right by the set of old cabal who smuggled themselves into the position of power. Should we then allow them have their way again in 2019?

Fellow Nigerian youths, this is the time we need to discover our mission, vision and fulfill it or   betray it. There is a need to create more platforms where we can give and discuss our opinion, get involved in activities of the government, only then we will be taken seriously to be able to offer a meaningful alternative to the rotting and lackluster leadership quagmire in the country.

Kudos to some concerned youths who are running platforms, doing their best in seeing that youths take back their rightful positions such as NYCN, YIGGI, HOPE FOUNDATION and a the host of writers, who are mostly concerned about our national good for taking up the quest towards a greater and more prosperous Nigeria for their contributions.

Having recognized the efforts of others for their contribution, it behooves on all meaningful Nigerian youths populace to step up their games; it is a necessity to call their attention and to awaken in us the spirit of youthful and purposeful leadership for the country, which will serve solely the interest of disappointed and cheated Nigerians while moving our country to an enviable height among the comity of nations in the world.

The time is NOW; let’s get GOING!

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
